Gearóid Muldowney and Jo Anne Butler are the talented husband-and-wife duo behind the design studio Superfolk. After meeting at art school in Dublin, they found their shared passion for nature-inspired design, specializing in fine homewares that celebrate the beauty of the natural world. Now, they live and work in the picturesque town of Westport, on Ireland's stunning west coast. Their work is a reflection of the ever-changing environment around them. As they put it, "We tell the story of the wildlife, wild food, landscape, geology, and seasons surrounding us in Clew Bay." The colors, patterns, and textures of nature all come together to inspire their designs.

Gearóid is a skilled designer with a deep knowledge of materials, craft, and manufacturing. He graduated with a degree in Craft Design from the National College of Art and Design in Ireland, as well as the Lahti University of Applied Sciences in Finland. His expertise in creating high-quality, thoughtfully designed pieces shines through in every item produced by Superfolk.

Jo Anne Butler: the architect with an artistic vision
Jo Anne brings a unique perspective to Superfolk, combining her background in architecture with a passion for visual arts. With a Master's degree in Architecture from University College Dublin and further studies at the Arkitektskolen Aarhus in Denmark, she blends structural design with artistic expression, making their creations stand out in both form and function.

Together, they create pieces that are more than just homeware—they tell the story of a place, of nature, and of craftsmanship. Every product they design is a testament to their love of their surroundings and their commitment to bringing a little piece of the Irish landscape into your home. "We design simple, beautiful homewares for people who love the wild outdoors. Curious about simple things in nature, animals, our weather and our environment we always try to understand the essence of a material or a process. Ireland’s geography, natural history and culture are fascinating. We love the rich cultural heritage to discover. With Superfolk we are trying our best to use all of these elements to our advantage.
